Regular Verb Endings
- For -er and -re verbs, the stem is the "nous" form of the present, minus "ons".
- Example: parler → nous parlons → stem parl-
- je parlais, tu parlais, il/elle/on parlait, nous parlions, vous parliez, ils/elles parlaient
- Example: attendre → nous attendons → stem attend-
- j'attendais, tu attendais, il/elle/on attendait, nous attendions, vous attendiez, ils/elles attendaient
- Example: parler → nous parlons → stem parl-
- For -ir verbs like finir: the stem is the "nous" form minus "ons", so finiss-
- je finissais, tu finissais, il/elle/on finissait, nous finissions, vous finissiez, ils/elles finissaient
